Dr. Henry Salama completed his undergraduate education at the State University of New York at Binghamton where he received a B.S. in Biology. He earned his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Salama then pursued post-graduate specialties in Periodontics, Periodontal Prosthetics, and Fixed Prosthodontics as well as Implant Surgical Training and Implant Prosthetic Training. Seminar Description:

The Zimmer Tapered Screw-Vent and One Piece Implant Systems are designed for simple and immediate esthetic restorations with minimal chair time. The system provides options from a proven, tapered implant family of two-stage, single stage, and one–piece, geometries, permitting the surgeon to select the best anatomical option at the point of surgery. Dr. Mark Spatzner graduated from McGill University in 1978 with a BSc. In 1982 he completed his undergraduate dental training at the Universite de Montreal with a D.M.D. In 1987 he received a Diploma in Periodontology from the University of Toronto after completing his specialty training. Currently Dr. Spatzner is an Assistant Professor at McGill University and was the Section Head in Periodontics for the General Practice Residency Program at the Montreal General Hospital. Seminar Description:

Regenerative implant therapy has developed over the years into a predictable and regularly performed treatment modality. This lecture will describe the regenerative procedures that are currently being done on a routine basis. The concept of the immediate implant into a fresh extraction socket will be discussed as well as the evolution of the procedure as an immediate tooth replacement. The concept of hard and soft tissue augmentation prior to and concurrent with fixture placement will be highlighted. Dr. Eric Van Dooren attended the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, where he received his degree in dentistry in 1982. After graduating he opened a private practice in Antwerp, Belgium, which is limited to periodontics, fixed prosthodontics, and implants. Currently Dr. Van Dooren is an active member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. In addition, he is a member of the editorial staff of Teamwork and Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry. Seminar Description:

The prerequisite to successful implant therapy in the esthetic zone is the understanding of the peri-implant mucosal barrier and the peri-implant soft tissue anatomy and physiology. In the constantly evolving field of esthetic implant restorations, emphasis is placed on selecting the least iatrogenic surgical and prosthetic procedure along with the most appropriate implant and abutment designs.

Implant outcome in poor quality bone or sites where site development is limited often necessitates delayed healing times and multiple staged procedures. The use of the fluoride modified Fixture MicroThread OsseoSpeed™ dental implant system in poor quality bone has been documented in formal multicenter clinical studies documenting excellent clinical results. In addition to the osseous tissue response, there are many times though when gingival or mucosal tissue varies in shape or architecture in the transmucosal region. Dr. Mitrani received his DDS degree from the Universidad Tecnológica de México. He then obtained a certificate in prosthodontics, as well as a Master of Science in Dentistry from the University of Washington, where he served as the graduate prosthodontics program’s assistant director in 2001.
He currently holds academic affiliations at the University of Washington, University of Valencia (Spain) and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.

He is a member of several organizations, including American College of Prosthodontics, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, and International College of Dentistry.
He is on the editorial board of Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry (PPAD) in the Implantology section.

Seminar Description:

Dr. Peter Nkansah is a dentist-anaesthesiologist who maintains a private practice in Toronto. A large proportion of his patients are medically compromised, developmentally delayed or “hard to freeze”. He received his DDS and Diploma in Dental Anaesthesia from the University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Peter is also a published author, international lecturer and an ACLS instructor. Dr. Mark Lin graduated from the University Of Toronto in the Biochemistry Specialists honors program. He received his dental degree from University of Detroit Mercy in which he was on the Dean's list for 4 consecutive years and finished within the top 5% of the class. Dr. Lin then completed a 1-year General Practice Residency program at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton Ohio , where he received his I.V. and surgical training. He currently serves as a part-time clinical demonstrator at the University Of Toronto and a clinical instructor with the “Millennium Aesthetics Program” in Niagara Falls .
