Basic Surgical Principles for Complicated Extractions

Minor oral surgery is a common thread to every dental practice. There are general surgical principles which are required to perform almost all oral surgical procedures. It is the ability of the practitioner in performing these procedures that is the limiting factor in profi cient delivery of care to their patients. This seminar will focus on the basic surgical principles as they apply to complicated dental extractions ranging from patient evaluation, anaesthesia, instrumentation, anatomy, and the handing of soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. The application of these principles to other oral surgical procedures including periodontal and endodontic therapy, are also relevant. It is the goal of the presenter to provide participants with a strong knowledge base of basic surgical principles in order to deliver proper patient care.
